Landscaping marketing that works all four seasons

Landscaping is sold with pictures. The homeowner wants to see a yard like theirs, before and after, in a town near theirs, then know you'll show up when you said. Landscaping marketing in Puget Sound is a gallery people can find in February, a profile that stays alive through October, and a maintenance side that carries the winter.

A gallery that search engines can read

Every landscaper has the photos. Hundreds of them, on a phone, in a camera roll called nothing. The difference between a landscaping company that gets found and one that doesn't is almost never the quality of the work; it is whether those photos are on the website and the Google profile with words around them.

"Paver patio, Monroe, 2025" under a before-and-after set is a sentence Google can match to "paver patio contractor Monroe." The same photo in a slideshow called "Gallery" is invisible. So the first thing we do for a landscaper is build the gallery properly: grouped by project type (patios, retaining walls, planting, sod, drainage, lighting), captioned with the town and the problem solved, placed on the matching service page, and mirrored to the profile a few at a time every month.

The second thing is to separate the two businesses most landscapers run. Install customers want a portfolio, a process and a budget range. Maintenance customers want a service list and a fast quote. They search differently and they should not land on the same page.

The landscaping year, Puget Sound edition

Inquiries start in February. The work to catch them starts in December.

December – January: build

Gallery from last season, project pages, profile categories and services, the maintenance page and quote form. The quiet months are when the marketing gets built.

February – May: design and install season

"Landscape design Snohomish County," "patio installation," "sod installation" peak. Google posts weekly, reviews requested at every completion, service-area pages for the towns you're working in.

June – September: hardscape and irrigation

Patios, walls and irrigation while the ground is dry. This is filming season: a transformation video from a real backyard beats any amount of copy.

October – November: drainage and clean-up

The first heavy rains send homeowners to "yard drainage solutions" and "french drain installation." A drainage page that is live in September catches a real Puget Sound specialty.

All year: maintenance

Mowing, pruning, bed care and seasonal clean-ups on contract. A simple page, a clear service list, a 60-second quote form, and a different kind of review request.

Reviews, timed right

Install reviews are requested the day the crew leaves, with the yard at its best. Maintenance reviews after the first month, with a prompt about reliability.

Profile and pages, specifically

  • Google Business Profile: Landscaper as primary (Landscape Designer if design leads), with Lawn Care Service, Hardscape Contractor and Drainage Contractor added as they apply. Services split between installs and maintenance. Photos monthly, captioned.
  • Install pages: landscape design and installation, paver patios and walkways, retaining walls, sod and lawn installation, planting, irrigation, drainage and french drains, landscape lighting. Each with a budget range, the process from consult to install, and photos from that project type.
  • Maintenance page: what's included, how pricing works, a short quote form. Nothing about patios.
  • Trust signals: Washington contractor registration and insurance, a clear process, a crew photo on a real job, reviews that mention showing up on schedule.

What landscapers tell us

"We're booked all summer; we don't need marketing." Agreed, for this summer. Next February's inquiries are decided by what is online this winter, and a full calendar is the best time to shoot the photos and videos that will book next year.

"We're seasonal. Why pay year-round?" Because the build happens in winter and the harvest in spring. If a year-round plan does not fit, we would rather scope a Launch build in December and a Grow stretch from February through September than sell you something that sits idle in January.

How we'd scope a maintenance crew that wants install work

A Snohomish-area company with forty mowing accounts and a crew that can build patios would start in December with the profile, a gallery from the installs they have already done, separate install and maintenance pages, and tracked calls and quote forms. February would bring Snohomish, Monroe and Lake Stevens pages and review requests on completions; summer would bring the first transformation videos and a drainage page ahead of fall. The proof report would show quote requests by install versus maintenance. That is a scope, not a client's result.

Questions landscapers ask us

What kind of marketing works for a landscaping company?

Photos first, organized so search engines and homeowners can both find them: by project type and by town. Behind that, a Google Business Profile with the right category for what you sell (Landscaper, Landscape Designer, Lawn Care Service or Hardscape Contractor), separate install and maintenance pages, and reviews requested when the project wraps, while the yard still looks new.

When should a landscaper start marketing for spring?

December. Design and install inquiries begin in February and peak March through May. The companies that show up then did the gallery, page and profile work in the dark months. We treat December and January as build months for landscapers.

My Instagram already has all my photos. Why do I need more?

Instagram is not where a homeowner in Woodinville searches for "paver patio contractor." Google is. The same photos, captioned with the project type and the town and placed on your site and profile, do a different job: they get found by people who do not follow you yet.

Do you promise more install jobs?

No. We promise the gallery, pages, profile and review work on the dates we set, and a monthly report of tracked calls and quote requests.
